Bridging UX design and engineering squads with over two decades of progressive, standards-compliant architecture.
Philosophy & Engineering Manifesto
For over two decades—from building my first mobile game in and navigating the Flash era to architecting resilient interfaces in regulated banking—my career has been driven by one core principle: the web must be accessible, resilient, and built on native semantic foundations.
Having started when browsers were deeply fragmented, I spent years building polyfills and working under the hood of the Document Object Model (DOM). That era taught me a permanent lesson: proprietary abstractions and bloated frameworks will always come and go, but native open web standards endure.
HTML-First Progressive Enhancement means starting with a resilient, semantic document that works everywhere, then layering modern CSS and declarative Web Components on top. I embed directly across engineering and design squads to "shift left":
The Native Flow: Stripping away framework bloat, specificity wars, and hacky ARIA by leveraging native HTML semantics and Web Components for what they were actually designed to do.
Bridge Engineering: Uniting UX, QA, and development teams around shared accessibility empathy, rooted in years of university lecturing in interactive systems.
Risk & Regulatory Remediation: Ensuring codebases meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 and statutory compliance while eliminating architectural tech debt.
"Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful—letting native web standards carry the weight so interfaces remain fast, inclusive, and unbreakable."
